Trading Software: Stay in Touch with Alerts in The Bourse

Friday, October 29th, 2010

Within The Bourse software you can set Alerts based on the last traded price, bid or ask values, volume and also market reports. This frees you up from monitoring the markets all the time as you will be notified when your set criteria have been met.

You can then do your analysis outside of market hours and set alerts prior to the market open. Now instead of watching the screen you can simply wait for your computer to play a sound that alerts you to a trading opportunity.

The Bourse has a function for allowing you to set audible alarms on ASX shares as well as futures traded on the SFE. This allows you to leave your PC running and know that Bourse will alert you if a target is triggered.

How to set up an alarm

1. Click on the “Quotes menu” and select “My Alarms.” The following window will be displayed:

2. Enter in the details of a trigger for the alarm as follows:

Enter Alarm Details - The Bourse

Enter Alarm Details - The Bourse

3. You can also set alarms on Bid, Ask, Volume, High, Low, Open and issue of a report.

4. When an alarm triggers, the message entered will be displayed in the log window. You know that an alarm has been triggered as your PC will play a sound through your speakers. YES, switch them on and have them loud enough to hear it. You will also see a small light bulb icon appear near the SYNC status.

5. Double click on the Bulb to stop the alarm from ringing and to view the log of which alarm has triggered.

6. You can double click on the alarm status, even if there is no bulb, to view the current alarm log at any time.

7. Select the “Tools” menu and select “Alarms & Alerts Log” to view a complete history of all alarms ever triggered.

Alerts are a fantastic tool to free up your time and let you get away from the markets. It is a great idea to give alerts a trial, and then you can phone your broker or place an order when the alert triggers. No more sitting watching your trading screen all day. Alerts free you up to trade when it is convenient for you.

Stay In Touch with Alerts using Market Analyser

Friday, October 15th, 2010

Trading alerts are great for busy traders on the go.  Alerts allow you to keep in touch with important market updates and capitilise on trading opportunities without having to constantly watch the markets.

You can set alerts based on the last traded price, bid or ask values as well as volume levels. Once you have set your criteria you don’t need to watch the markets, as you will be notified when your criteria have been met.

You can then do your analysis outside of market hours and set alerts prior to the market open. Now instead of watching the screen you can simply wait for an email to arrive or for your computer to play a sound that alerts you to a trading opportunity.

Using the Market Analyser you can set your alerts to run even when you don’t have the software open. In the Alert Management console select Run on Server. The Market Analyser servers will monitor the alert, and send you an email when your conditions are met. For smart-phone users, this means you can be notified of a triggered alert even when you’re on the move.

Market Analyser Alerts provide you with the flexibility to monitor up to 200 codes at any single time. For an alert to trigger in real time, it is necessary to have a live data feed. This is available if you are using the Gold or Platinum versions of Market Analyser.

Alerts can be set to:

- Display a message on your screen
- Speak a message
- Play a sound
- Send you an email

Setting Alerts

To set alerts simply click on Menu, Tools and Alerts.

You now have the option to run the alert to display a message, play a sound or speak text that will be displayed on your Market Analyser screen when you are online. Alternatively you can run the alert on our server which will generate an email or instant message to another email address or another user of Market Analyser.

There are many services available today allowing you to receive specific emails via your compatible mobile telephone. Please check with your mobile phone provider regarding these facilities.

Additionally, you can choose your own form of sound to be played when you choose the option Play Sound. This must be in the form of a WAV file that you can download and save in your favorite windows folder and select when setting a play sound alert.

Alerts are a great tool to free up your time and let you get away from the markets. It’s a great idea to give alerts a trial, and when your alert triggers you can place your order or call Trader Dealer’s Phone Trading desk to place the order for you. No more sitting watching your trading screen all day – alerts free you up to trade when it is convenient for you.
