ASX Company News: Monadelphous Secures Rio Tinto Water Supply Contract

Leading engineering group Monadelphous Group Limited (MND) announced it has secured water and transmission pipeline construction contracts in Western Australia (WA) with a combined value of approximately $180 million. The first is for Rio Tinto’s Coastal Waters Project at Bungaroo Valley in the Pilbara region of WA. The contract comprises the construction and installation of a potable water supply system that will deliver 10 gigalitres per year of potable water from the Bungaroo Valley to the West Pilbara Supply Scheme at Millstream, WA. The system includes a bore field, approximately 15 kilometres of collector main and 87 kilometres of transfer pipeline and a transfer pump station. Work is expected to commence in the first quarter of the 2012 calendar year and is scheduled to be completed in the first half of the 2013 calendar year.

The second contract, awarded by Chevron Australia, is for the preparation and construction of a CO2 injection pipeline and well sites on the Gorgon Project, Barrow Island, WA. This contract, secured through Monadelphous’s transmission pipelines business KT Pty Ltd, comprises installation and pre-commissioning of seven kilometres of underground pipeline, five well sites and associated facilities. Work will commence immediately and is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of the 2013 calendar year.

“These contracts support our objective of sustainable growth through the continued expansion of our infrastructure business and they build on our long term relationships with blue chip customers,”  Monadelphous Managing Director Rob Velletri said. The latest contracts take the total value of new work secured by Monadelphous in the 2012 financial year to more than $1.5 billion.

ASX Company News: Monadelphous Secures Rio Tinto Engineering Contract

Leading engineering group Monadelphous Group Limited (MND)  announced it has secured a major construction contract at the Hope Downs 4 Iron Ore Project for Rio Tinto and Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd. The contract is valued at approximately $150 million for the project which is 30km north-west of Newman in Western Australia. The work involves structural, mechanical and piping for the supply, installation and commissioning of the 15 million tonnes per annum greenfields mine processing plant. Construction will include facilities for primary and secondary crushing and dry screening, waste fines thickening and discharge return lines, stockpiling of lump and fines product, reclaiming and train load out.

ASX Company News: Monadelphous Group To Acquire PearlStreet Energy Services

Leading engineering group Monadelphous Group Limited (MND) is pleased to announce it has concluded a purchase agreement for the acquisition of asset management company PearlStreet Energy Services Pty Ltd. PearlStreet manages two long-term operations and maintenance contracts in the power sector in Western Australia. The contracts comprise a Collie Basin coal infrastructure operations and maintenance contract with Verve Energy and a plant operations and maintenance agreement with the Tiwest Joint Venture KMK Cogeneration Plant at Kwinana. The Verve Energy and Tiwest contracts have four and three years to run respectively, with a combined value of approximately $50 million. Monadelphous has acquired 100 per cent of the shares of PearlStreet, a wholly owned subsidiary of Campbell Brothers Limited, for a cash consideration of approximately $4 million.

Monadelphous Managing Director Rob Velletri said the acquisition was part of the company’s market growth strategy. “PearlStreet will enable Monadelphous to strengthen its operations and maintenance capabilities, as well as expand its services into the power sector,” Mr Velletri said.

ASX Company News: Monadelphous Materially Unaffected By Floods

Monadelphous Group Limited (MND) advises there has been no significant impact to its Queensland operations caused by the floods at this stage.  The company’s regional operations and the majority of the contract sites in Queensland are operating without significant restrictions.

The support office in Brisbane has been temporarily closed with alternative arrangements in place to ensure business continuity.  As most of the company’s Queensland operations are in less-affected regions, the impact of the floods is not expected to be material to earnings. The company will advise if there is any change to this situation.

ASX Company News: Monadelphous Wins $130 million In New Construction Contracts

Leading engineering group Monadelphous Group Limited (MND) today announced it has secured new construction contracts and additional work with a combined value of approximately $130 million. The contracts are in the iron ore market in Western Australia and in the gold market in New South Wales.

In Western Australia, Monadelphous has been awarded a contract with BHP Billiton Iron Ore to modify and upgrade two transfer stations as part of its expansion program at Finucane Island, Port Hedland. The company will also undertake work with China Metallurgical Group Corporation at CITIC Pacific Mining’ Sino Iron operation at Cape Preston, WA. This involves structural steel and mechanical works for the autogenous grinding mill and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of calendar year 2011.

In NSW, Monadelphous has been awarded a structural, mechanical and piping package to upgrade and expand the existing gold processing plant, and a below-ground fabrication package, with Newcrest Mining Limited. These are part of Newcrest’ Cadia East Proj near Orange. The work is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of calendar year 2011. The latest agreements take the value of new contracts and additional work secured since June to approximately $400 million.

ASX Company News: Monadelphous Secures $120 million New Mining Contracts

Leading engineering group Monadelphous Group Ltd (MND) announced it has secured new contracts and work in Western Australia and Papua New Guinea with a combined value of approximately $120 million.  The contracts and work are with major operators in the oil and gas, iron ore and water sectors.

In PNG, Monadelphous has been awarded a three-year extension of a contract with Oil Search for field construction services at its oil and gas production and support facilities in the Southern Highlands Province. The agreement also includes additional work to upgrade Oil Search’s Kutubu and Gobe facilities in preparation for the delivery of gas to the PNG LNG project.

In WA, Monadelphous’s newly-acquired business KT Pipeline Services has been awarded a contract to construct intake and outfall pipelines and associated work for the desalination plant at CITIC Pacific Mining’s Sino Iron project at Cape Preston in the Pilbara.  Monadelphous has also been awarded a contract with the WA Water Corporation to supply, construct and commission a water treatment plant at Picton, near Bunbury. The plant, with a capacity of 11 megalitres a day, will treat underground water for supply to Australind and Eaton.

The company will also undertake structural and mechanical work for BHP Billiton Iron Ore on Rapid Growth Project 5 at the iron ore port facilities at Finucane Island, Port Hedland.  The contracts and work are spread across Monadelphous’s three operating divisions of Infrastructure (which includes KT), Engineering Construction, and Maintenance and Industrial Services.

“They reflect the emphasis we place on maintaining our relationships with customers in major projects, securing new business and continuing our diversification into selected infrastructure areas such as pipelines and water,” Monadelphous Managing Director Rob Velletri said.

Monadelphous Group Acquires KT Business

Leading Australian engineering company Monadelphous Group Limited (MND) today announced it had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to acquire onshore pipeline constructor KT Pty Ltd. At this stage, it is considered likely the agreement will be concluded by the end of the 2009-10 financial year. Monadelphous has agreed with KT Pty Ltd’s shareholders to acquire 100 per cent of the shares in KT Pty Ltd for a combination of cash and an issue of shares in Monadelphous. The consideration will comprise an upfront component of $16.5 million and a deferred component payable subject to KT Pty Ltd achieving certain financial targets. The total consideration payable, which will not exceed $30 million, will be based on three times average annualised earnings before interest and tax (EBIT).

Monadelphous Managing Director Rob Velletri said the planned acquisition was a further step in the company’s strategy of diversification. “This will support the expansion of our infrastructure business to continue to drive our successful record of long term growth,” Mr Velletri said.

Monadelphous Secures $60million Gorgon Project

Leading Australian engineering company Monadelphous Group Limited (MND) today announced that it has secured a $AUD60 million facilities management services contract associated with the construction of the Gorgon Project on Barrow Island in Western Australia. The initial term of the contract is for three years, with the option for two further one-year extensions. Commencement on site is scheduled for February 2010. Monadelphous, through their Maintenance and Industrial Services division, will provide management, operation and maintenance of construction facilities and utilities for the Gorgon Project. The scope of services includes operating and maintaining the water and waste water treatment plants and the power generation and distribution systems as well as management and maintenance of the accommodation facilities and various buildings, vehicles, plant and equipment. The Gorgon Project is a joint venture between the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (Operator), ExxonMobil and Shell, to develop the Greater Gorgon gas fields, located between 130km and 200km off the north-west coast of Western Australia. The Greater Gorgon gas fields contain of about 40 trillion cubic feet of gas, Australia’s largest-known gas resource.

Monadelphous Signs $100 million Contract With Rio Tinto

Leading Australian engineering company Monadelphous Group Limited (MND) today announced it had secured two new three-year maintenance services contracts with Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Coastal and Inland West Operations in  Western Australia worth a total of approximately $100 million.  The scope of work awarded to Monadelphous includes responsibility for any shutdown and maintenance services across various Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Pilbara sites.

Monadelphous Secures $70 million BHP Contract

Leading Australian engineering company Monadelphous Group Limited (MND) today announced it has secured a significant contract with BHP Billiton Iron Ore for major works associated with the Rapid Growth Project 5 in the north west of Western Australia. This package of work at Yandi is valued at approximately $70 million. The contract includes structural, mechanical and piping works for the supply, pre-assembly and installation of the stockyard and train load out facilities and modifications to the existing Ore Handling Plant 2 (OHP2). Project works will commence immediately with substantial completion scheduled for the third quarter of calendar 2010.
