ASX Company News: LogiCamms Secures Train Loading Contract With Rio Tinto

LogiCamms Limited (LCM) is pleased to advise it has been awarded a $5.4m contract with Rio Tinto’s Iron Ore group to undertake the Design and Construct for a train loading improvement project in the Pilbara. The contract incorporates delivery of a dynamic rail weighing system to be implemented at three operational sites initially, designed to increase accuracy of weighing loads and ultimately throughput at the mines.

Logicamms Secures Victoria Desalination Plant Sub Contract

LogiCamms is pleased to advise it has received a “Letter of Intent” from Thiess Degrémont, the design and construction contractor for the $3.5 billion Victorian Desalination Project, confirming its intention to award the contract for supply, installation support and site acceptance testing of the Project Control Systems to LogiCamms.

The letter of intent authorises LogiCamms to begin early works on the contract, up to $400,000.00, for project mobilisation, long lead procurement items and initial engineering design services. The contract is expected to exceed $10 million.

The company is continuing to work with Thiess Degrémont to reach final agreement on all contractual details in order to secure formal contract award. The company hopes to conclude these discussions within the next 4 weeks and will keep the market updated on this matter.

The Victorian Desalination Project is the largest infrastructure project in the state’s history. It is being delivered by AquaSure, which comprises leaders in the fields of infrastructure design, construction, and finance: Degrémont, a SUEZ ENVIRONMENT company, Thiess, and Macquarie Capital.  LogiCamms Managing Director, Adam Keats, commented, “We look forward to continuing to work with Thiess Degrémont to deliver this project on time and on budget”.  “We are delighted to be working on this important Victorian water infrastructure project and our involvement reflects our industry leading process control systems expertise”, Keats said.

UXC Wins Victoria Smart Meters Contract

UXC Limited (UXC) is pleased to announce that it has signed a contract with Powercor Network Services (PNS) for the inaugural roll-out of smart meters in Victoria. UXC is one of two service providers to install more than 1.1 million meters plus associated communications and ancillary equipment, with an estimated contract value of up to $80m. The installation works will be performed across the CitiPower and Powercor electricity networks in inner Melbourne and western Victoria. Powercor Network Services provides technical, logistical, direct procurement and field support services to CitiPower Pty and Powercor Australia Ltd. CitiPower and Powercor are electricity Distribution Businesses supplying power to more than two thirds of the state of Victoria.

Powercor Network Services will replace more than 1.1 million meters with smart meters between Quarter 4 2009 and 31 December 2013. Approximately 31% of these meters are in the CitiPower network and 69% are in the Powercor network. Under the agreement, UXC will provide Planning and workforce scheduling; Installation of AMI Meters; Installation of Communications Technology; Interaction and liaison with CitiPower and Powercor customers; and Communication and reporting activities associated with the AMI roll out.

UXC Executive Chairman Geoff Lord commented “We have been active in the planning stages of innovative rollout of smart meters some time now, and it is pleasing to see our expertise and commitment recognized by PNS so as to assist them with this historic initiative. Intermoco Signs Electricity Monitoring Agreement

Intermoco Limited (INT) ,a leading provider of energy and water metering and management solutions through its Utiligy brand, is pleased to announce that the company has signed a major Electricity Retailer for the remote reading of their electricity meters for a 5 year contract. Under the agreement Utiligy will supply, commission, and operate the communications equipment and remotely read metering systems, provide the maintenance and support of meter data database storage facilities for the agreed period, operate a National Operations Centre (NOC), and support a web access facility to allow the Retailer secure access to meter data, energy demand management information and usage information. The new contract has an effective date of 1 July 2009 and will expire on 1 July 2013 for the with a contract value expected to exceed $1M.

Ian Kiddle Director of Sales for Intermoco said “this new contract was a direct result of the refocusing of the business on what is our core business of metering services. The agreement with our customer provides us both with the opportunity to upgrade the technology to take advantage of our new products that are coming on-line, such as our IP based products that use the National Broadband Network.”
