ASX Company News: Diploma Group Secures Rio Tinto Housing Project

Diploma Group Limited (DGX) is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary, Diploma Construction Pty Ltd, has been awarded a $49 million contract for Rio Tinto’s Wickham Accommodation Expansion Project. Stage 1 of the Wickham Lodge FIFO Accommodation project involves the Design and Construction of 198 one-person accommodation rooms over three storeys with associated services and infrastructure. The design incorporates the use of modular prefabricated units that are manufactured offsite.

Commenting on the award of the contract Diploma Group CEO, Nick Di Latte said “we are delighted to have secured our second project with Rio Tinto following the successful award in July 2012 of the $44m Rocklea Palms FIFO Accommodation project in Paraburdoo.” The award of this important contract takes Diploma’s current order book to $346m to be completed over the next 24 months. This first stage of the Wickham Lodge FIFO Contract commences immediately and is expected to complete in September 2013.

ASX Company News: Diploma Group Secures Two Significant Construction Contracts

Leading Western Australian construction company Diploma Group (DGX) confirm the award of two significant contracts worth a total of $55 million. The projects include a $20 million contract for the construction of Move apartments in South Beach for boutique developer Match and a $35m appointment for long term client TRG Properties in Port Coogee.

A formal contract has been executed with Match Properties for the construction of 107 apartments over three levels in South Beach Fremantle. The award of this contract, which commences within 4 weeks, follows the award of the Summer Apartment contract for Match, also in South Beach, which is scheduled for Practical Completion in June 2012. The project is expected to run for 59 weeks with completion in June 2013.

A Binding Heads of Agreement (HOA) has been executed with a subsidiary of TRG Properties for the award of a contract to construct 101 apartments in the recently established Port Coogee marina precinct. Designed by architects Cameron Chisholm and Nicol, the building will consist of 1, 2 & 3 bedroom apartments over 7 levels and have panoramic views of the ocean. The Binding HOA is subject to sufficient presales being secured in the development with construction anticipated to commence in September 2012. The contract duration is anticipated to extend for 17 months.

Commenting on the award of both contracts, Diploma Group CEO Nick Di Latte said “we are delighted to have been appointed as head contractor by both Match & TRG Properties on these exciting projects. The Move project will be our fifth for the Match Group and follows the successful completion in December 2011 of Stage 1 of Fort Knox redevelopment in Fremantle for Match.”

ASX Company News: Diploma Group Secures $45 Million Shopping Centre Contract

Diploma Group Limited (DGX) is pleased to confirm the formal award of the Design & Construct Contract from Woolworths Limited for the redevelopment of the $45m Kwinana Hub Shopping Centre.

On 21 November 2011, the Company announced it had received a Letter of Intent from Woolworths Limited for the award of the contract. The Design & Construct contract comprises major refurbishment and new extensions to the existing centre.

On completion, the centre will comprise of Woolworths, Big W, IGA, Dan Murphy’s and various speciality tenancies on the site.  Early works have already commenced on site with completion expected by late 2012.

This now brings the value of contract awards in FY12 to $88m with the company still awaiting the outcome of approximately $163m worth of external contracts.

ASX Company News: Diploma Group Secures $24 million In New Contracts

Leading Western Australian construction company Diploma (DGX) confirm the award of two significant contracts worth a total of $24 million. The projects include a $17.98 million contract for the refurbishment of and additions to Hale House, one of Western Australia’s most significant heritage buildings. A $6 million contract to undertake major redevelopment works at the Barbagallo Raceway, Perth’s premier motor sports racing circuit near Wanneroo, has also been awarded to Diploma. Hale House is a heritage listed building, dating back to 1914 and is being refurbished as part of the Western Australian Government’s move to consolidate Ministerial offices and central Government departments around Parliament House. The refurbished building will include offices for the Premier and the cabinet secretariat, and Cabinet Rooms which will reflect the history and status of the building and its new role. The project commences immediately and it is anticipated it will be completed by July 2012. The works at Barbagallo Raceway included in the Design and Construct contract will see a three phase program of redevelopment on the infield pits, footbridge overpass and media centre complex. The scope incorporates civil works for track alignment, track barrier works, and pit lane works including workshop structures.

Commenting on these projects Diploma Group Managing Director Nick Di Latte said. “These two projects are very exciting for Diploma. Being entrusted with the refurbishment of Hale House is a testament to our ability to sensitively undertake work on significant heritage projects.

The Barbagallo raceway works will see Diploma bringing the project in on time to ensure a successful V8 Supercar programme in 2012.” The above contract wins are in addition to the recently awarded $17.6m Oxford Youth Foyer project for Foundation Housing announced on 16 September 2011. Further to the above contract awards, Diploma is also awaiting answers on the award of the Kwinana Hub Shopping Centre Redevelopment with an answer expected in the coming days.

ASX Company News: Diploma Group Secures $17 million WA Contract

Diploma Group Limited (DGX) announced it has been awarded a $17.6M contract to construct a mixed use residential, retail and office project on behalf of a joint partnership made of up Foundation Housing, Anglicare WA and Central Institute of Technology in Oxford Street Leederville Western Australia. The proposed Oxford Youth FOYER is a joint partnership between Foundation Housing, Anglicare WA and Central Institute of Technology. With Chindarsi Architects as the Design Architects, GHD Pty Ltd as the Project Manager and provider of all Engineering services for the project and GHD Architecture as the Project Architects. Located on Oxford Street in Leederville within the Central Institute of Technology campus, the FOYER will provide 98 studio and 1 bedroom units to house up to 74 single young people and 24 young parents and their children (aged under 3 years old). The project will offer accommodation to young people aged between 16-25 years, with a mix of one third high, one third medium and one third low support needs, providing onsite support and case worker services to enable co-ordination and linkage to education and training facilities and other essential support services.

Diploma Chief Executive, Nick Di Latte, said “we are pleased that once again Diploma can apply its construction management and delivery skills to such an important project that will benefit the community”. Construction has recently commenced with completion expected in late 2012. In addition to securing this important contract, Diploma is also awaiting answers with respect to an additional $155m worth of construction contracts where tenders have been submitted. Further details in relation to these opportunities will be forthcoming over the coming 4 weeks. Further to the announcement released to the market on 31 August 2011, the company has made significant in roads with respect to the sale of completed inventory across its Zenith, Cove and Foundry projects. The group has now secured approximately $12m of new sales against an inventory of $53m since 31 August 2011.

ASX Company News: Diploma Group Secures New Perth Development

Diploma Group Limited (DGX) announced it has acquired an 872m2 property located at 69 Adelaide Terrace in the Perth CBD, on the corner of Plain Street. Diploma’s property division continues its dominance having recently completed several high rise residential towers in Perth’s CBD. The site is earmarked for a residential apartment tower with approximately 70 one and two bedroom apartments over 20 levels. A number of apartments within the development are expected to feature views of  the Swan River and will be targeted towards buyers seeking quality and value for money. Construction is anticipated for completion late in 2014 following a 24 month construction programme.

ASX Company News: Diploma Group Awarded $11 Million Building Contract

Diploma Group (DGX) announced it has been appointed to build the $11M Fort Knox Stage 1 development located at Lot 268 Beach Street in Fremantle, Western Australia, for Perth based property developer, Match Group.

Upon completion, the residential development is proposed to include 58 residential apartments over five levels and the building is set to achieve a NABERS 6 star energy efficiency rating.  Fort Knox Stage 1 will be the third project constructed by Diploma for the Match Group, following the successful completion of Maymont in December 2009 which included 16 retail tenancies and 42 apartments over three levels and Ottimo Apartments in Northbridge.

Diploma Group’s MD & CEO, Nick Di Latte, believes the project will be a valuable contribution to the City of Fremantle.  ‘Match never shy away from the challenging projects and at Maymont we worked closely together to address significant heritage considerations and delivered a quality mixed use development for the residents of Maylands and we are excited to have the opportunity to work with Match once again,’ said Mr Di Latte. It is anticipated that the $50M second stage of the works, will commence early next year, on the adjoining building.

Diploma Group Secures $70 million Perth Redevelopment Contract

Diploma Group (DGX) today announced it has been selected as the Preferred Partner with WA State Government for the $70m redevelopment of the State Government owned Pier Street site in the Perth CBD which upon completion is proposed to include 140 apartments over 12 levels with approximately 550m2 of commercial space. The Pier Street development will be a landmark addition to the Perth CBD landscape and will be the first project in Western Australia to incorporate the new Housing Initiative’. Work is expected to commence on site at Pier Street in October 2010 with completion scheduled in mid 2012.
