ASX Company News: WDS Ltd Secures BHP Mining Contract

WDS Limited (WDS) announced its Mining Division has been awarded a two year Umbrella Contract for Longwall Block Management and Outbye Services at BHP Billiton Illawarra Coal’s Dendrobium Mine in the New South Wales Illawarra region.

WDS Chief Executive Officer Terry Chapman said that the expected revenue from the contract is $10 million over the two years, with a possible extension for a third year. The company anticipates an early start to the contract with various equipment and work crews already fully mobilised at Dendrobium Mine. “We are pleased to return to Dendrobium Mine and add this to the list of mines WDS is currently servicing. This project will continue our relationship with BHP Billiton Illawarra Coal. WDS have undertaken a range of materials handling and mining services projects for BHP Billiton over a number of years, including the initial construction and development of the Dendrobium Mine,” Mr Chapman said.
